CTET to be Held in Four Levels from Now On – Major Reform under NCTE 2025

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), conducted by CBSE, is about to undergo a historic transformation under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. According to the latest update, CTET will now be conducted at four levels instead of two, as per the upcoming NCTE Act 2025.

Key Highlights:

  • The new structure will be implemented once the NCTE 2025 Act comes into effect.
  • CTET will now be conducted for four levels:
    1. Pre-Primary (Balvatika)
    2. Primary (Class 1 to 5)
    3. Junior (Class 6 to 8)
    4. TGT/PGT (Class 9 to 12)
  • This reform is aimed at improving the teacher recruitment process and aligning it with NEP 2020.

Once implemented, both 1-year and 2-year B.Ed. programs will be valid for teaching roles across all four CTET levels, including pre-primary and primary, which were previously limited to D.El.Ed. diploma holders.
